"Magus Guardian
is a fast-paced, sensual, swashbuckling fantasy epic. It is the first volume in a series of tales exploring a mythical world of magic wielders and ordinary men and women during a time of crisis. While
energetically paced and laced with lush sensuality, care is taken in Magus
Guardian to give the characters depth and emotional complexity and their world a richly detailed texture. Readers of fantasy will be carried away by the robust vision of court politics and boisterous swordplay, loyalty
and individuality, heroism and villainy, passion and love and will demand to have more. " In Magus Guardian, Tulūk, gifted mage
warrior and Guardian of Harand fights to protect his Magus talented brethren and his young king from the evil influence of the insidious Nekros cult. Harand, a warlike desert bound kingdom, marches to war seeking a
foothold in the prosperous Verga continent to the north. Wounded and taken into captivity deep in enemy territory, Tulūk is healed by Silphae the Magus gifted northern born crown princess of Galathil. Unexpectedly,
during the curing enchantation, a jiinea link entwines the souls of Tulūk and Silphae sealing them in a supernaturally powered life bond that results in an intensely passionate attraction that neither can deny.
Meanwhile in Harand, Mortura, the evil Nekros cult leader, has convinced King Vardarion to become his youngest disciple. Using the resources of Harand, Mortura proposes to build the Kor Portal, a gateway to the
supernatural world, to which Gorgomin a dread demon of the Abyss can be summoned. In exchange for the soul of a wielder known as The Chosen, it is believed Gorgomin will relinquish to Vardarion and the Nekros a weapon
of unlimited power through which they will be able to subdue all Magus wielders and gain dominion over the world. Vardarion is both surprised and gratified when Gorgomin declares Silphae of Galathil to be The Chosen
and quickly secures her hand in marriage from the embattled Galathilian king as the price of peace between North and South. Ignorant of Silphae's danger and bound by honor and duty and a growing belief in the
necessity of returning to Harand to prevent the Nekros from overtaking the rule of his friend and king, Tulūk resolutely puts aside his deep desire for Silphae and escorts her south to her betrothed husband. Within
hours of crossing the border, however, Tulūk is confronted with Vardarion's complete corruption by the Nekros and soon realizes he must choose between loyalty to his boyhood friend and the woman he loves. To save their
world from destruction, Tulūk and Silphae must use their extraordinary bond. Failure will guarantee their destruction while success promises life, but one that is utterly changed from all they have known. |
